HVS®240 & HVS®420: High-Voltage Connectors for High-Performance Electric Motors

Shielded connector systems for up to 410 A and 1200 V DC, even under demanding environmental conditions

With the shielded connector systems HVS®240 and HVS®420, Rosenberger is expanding its portfolio for high-voltage power transmission in electric mobility. Designed for connecting electric motors, the systems support an operating voltage of up to 1200 V DC and continuous currents of up to 285 A for the HVS®240 and 410 A for the HVS®420 when using copper conductors. Both systems are designed for long-term reliability and are qualified for use under demanding environmental conditions.

High Performance and Robust Design

The HVS® connectors are safety-critical components for high-voltage power transmission. Both systems feature an HVIL (High Voltage Interlock) function, which helps monitor the high-voltage connection. For dielectric strength, they are rated for a test voltage of 5,000 V DC.

The aluminum connector housings allow for use in a temperature range from −40 °C to +140 °C. The HVS®240 and HVS®420 are qualified to vibration stress level IV and meet the requirements of LV215-2. When mated, the connectors achieve protection classes IP6K9K, IPX8, and IPXXD; when unmated, they provide protection against accidental contact in accordance with IPXXB. Both systems are RoHS-compliant.

Two Sizes for Different Performance Requirements

The HVS®240 is designed for cable cross-sections of 16 mm², 25 mm², 35 mm², and 50 mm² and achieves a current-carrying capacity of up to 285 A at 80 °C with copper conductors or 235 A with aluminum conductors. The HVS®420 is rated for cable cross-sections of 35 mm², 50 mm², 70 mm², and 95 mm² and supports up to 410 A with copper conductors or 317 A with aluminum conductors at 80 °C. Both systems are designed for up to 50 mating cycles.

Different color codes (A black, B white, C blue, D violet) allow for unambiguous identification of the connections. Custom variants are available on request.
